2024 in Review: Progress in Food Accessibility and Inclusivity

Thank you 2024 for taking us to a whole new of life and health. This year is an intention of love and healing, StellaEats reflects on a transformative year in the world of dietary inclusivity and food accessibility. From innovative solutions to heartwarming partnerships, the journey has been as rewarding as it has been impactful.

This year, we’ve witnessed significant strides in food technology, community collaboration, and awareness campaigns, all of which pave the way for a healthier, more inclusive future.

Global Progress in Dietary Inclusivity

1. Food Allergy Awareness on the Rise
According to Food Allergy Canada, the prevalence of food allergies has increased, with an estimated 7.5% of Canadians now living with at least one food allergy. This rise has fueled greater public and merchant awareness of dietary safety.

  • Highlight: Campaigns like “Making Dining Safer and More Inclusive” by Allergy-Free Canada have encouraged restaurants and retailers to adopt allergy-friendly practices.

2. Growth in Gluten-Free and Allergen-Friendly Markets
The gluten-free market in Canada grew by 8.5% in 2024, reaching an estimated $1.9 billion, as per IBISWorld. This growth is driven by an increasing demand for transparency and accessibility in food labeling. Celiac Canada is the science-backed voice for people living gluten-free in Canada. We deliver education, research, support, & resources.
